Marc Sabat

Currently living in Berlin, Marc Sabat has made pieces for the ships of St. John's Harbour, Newfoundland (with John Oswald); Arraymusic (Toronto); Festival A.DEvangarde (München); Ensemble SurPlus (Freiburg); Quartett Avance (1998 Darmstadt Ferienkurse für Neue Musik). Upcoming commissions include music for the percussion ensemble NEXUS, and several pieces for performers on early instruments. A recording of his recent music is planned from Mode Records.

Sabat has commissioned and premiered pieces by many composers, and has played in major festivals including Wien Modern, Sound Symposium, Bratislava Evenings of New Music, and Darmstadt. He studied at the University of Toronto and the Juilliard School of Music in New York. In 1997-98 he was in residence at the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart.
