Nicolas Miribel

Violonist Nicolas Miribel studied at the Paris Conservatory, with Gérard Jarry and Jean Mouillère. Then he studied with Walter Levin and Hatto Beyerle, and won several international prizes (Maurice Ravel Prize, in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, France, Kranichsteiner Preis in Darmstadt, Germany, Franz Schubert Prize in Graz, Austria). Untill 2005 he was a member of the Diotima Quartet, and performed in numerous festivals (Aldeburgh, Guanajuato, Kuhmo, Takefu, Musica, Ultima, June in Buffalo, Ars Musica, Archipel…) and recorded several CDs, including Helmut Lachenmann and Luigi Nono string quartets. During almost twenty years, Nicolas Miribel was the principal violinist of the Itinéraire and Court-circuit Ensembles. Now he teaches the violin at the CNSM de Lyon and Rueil Conservatory. He plays a violin built by Matteo Goffriller in 1720.
