Art Zoyd

Art Zoyd

Founded in 1969 in Valenciennes, the group Art Zoyd looks back on more than three decades of extraordinary accomplishments. Recordings (more than 30 CDs to date), concerts, and music performances for ballet, theatre, film, and other events are among their achievements which have taken them to places from New York City to Adelaide, Hong Kong, Mexico and Yokohama.

Art Zoyd founded their own studio in 1987, dedicating themselves to the exploration of new stage technologies. In 1996 Art Zoyd invited composers into their studio and they created, along with the Orchestre National de Lille, the Viennese Tonkünstler Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Mexico, Dangerous Visions, which combines electronic instruments, symphony orchestras and computer-controlled images on huge screens in front of fifteen thousand spectators.

In 1999 the group joined the Belgian ensemble Musiques Nouvelles to develop the Centre Transfrontalier de Production et de la Création Musicales (a Center for Ground-Breaking Musical Production and Creation), aiming at artist and composer residencies and support for innovative musical projects.
