D’Arcy Philip Gray

D’Arcy Philip Gray performs regular solo and chamber music concerts in various parts of Canada and has been teaching percussion at McGill University since 1991. From 1993 to 1995 Gray performed regularly with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company from New York and, since 1998, he has been a member of ensemble KORE (Montréal) and the Motion Ensemble (Fredericton). He is also a clinician for Yamaha Canada Music and an endorser of Sabian Ltd. D’Arcy Philip Gray is a graduate of the Juilliard School (1992) and McGill University (1991). In 1995 he st In the past, Gray has taught percussion and music technology courses at McGill University, been a member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in New York, and studied electronic music and performance practice with David Tudor in New York. Gray has given recitals in Canada, the United States, Europe, and South America, performed with numerous orchestras (including the Montreal Symphony and the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Canada).
 
  He has written a number of articles on percussion and electronic music, most recently for the Leonardo Music Journal. His collection of studies, “7 Operations for Marimba” are published by Honeyrock in the U.S.

He is also part of a team that is documenting the music of David Tudor for performance and exhibition.
