Q-O2 Ensemble

Q-O2 is an ensemble for contemporary and improvised music. Q-O2 has a specific place in the Belgian music scene. Through the ensemble’s conceptual preoccupations it blurs the boundaries of the traditional concert circuit and identifies points of access to different disciplines and new approaches. The twentieth century repertoire maintains its importance here, but the emphasis lies on continuous research and the new.

In principle one is not bound to styles or circuits in contemporary music; the ensemble concentrates de facto on new and extremely recent music, which makes its affinity with recent cultural and philosophical tendencies all the greater. Music and the experience of music is not always perceived as a closed entity. This is why the ensemble also researches its links with other artistic disciplines, with philosophical and social themes.
