John Eckhardt

John Eckhardt (Double Bass), received classical training with Prof. Jörg Linowitzki at the Lübeck School of Music, Germany. In 2000-2002, he was granted the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for graduate studies with Robert Black at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut. He regularly gives solo performances of contemporary composed, improvised and live electronic music. Eckhardt’s extensive activities as chamber musician include performing with the Klangforum Vienna, Musikfabrik NRW, Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, l’art pour l’art, and Ensemble Intégrales. He is a member of the trio rgb and the ensembles oh ton, courage and trigger, Premier performances, CD and radio productions. As a composer, he works on the connection of traditional instruments with live electronics, on sound installations and crossover Drum’n Bass. Eckhardt lives in Hamburg, within hearing distance of the harbor.
