The Whistlebinkies
For over half a century the group has represented Scotland throughout the world including the first official tour by a Scottish folk music group of the People’s Republic of China, appearances at Scottish cultural events in the United States, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Estonia, Belgium, and Brittany. The band has appeared at Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Rotterdam Festival, The St Magnus Festival, Celtic Connections and toured Taiwan, France, Sweden and Germany. Artistic collaborations have included those with the leading Scottish orchestras, Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra, Yehudi Menuhin, David Essex, Cutting Crew and John Cage.
The band has been recognised previously as BBC Radio 3 Artists of the Week.
Recorded output includes six albums for Claddagh Records of Dublin and three for the Scottish Greentrax label. Special recording projects are published at Bandcamp.com and archival material at rareTunes.org.
