Jovita Zähl

Jovita Zähl was born in Bensberg near Cologne, Germany. She studied in Brussels, Cologne and Düsseldorf with the pianists Pavel Gililov, Jean-Claude Vanden-Eynden, Aloys Kontarsky and David Levine. She graduated with honors for piano and chamber music at the Musikhochschule Köln and the Robert-Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.

Jovita Zähl is active as a soloist, accompanist and teacher. She has performed with many New Music ensembles and participated in New Music festivals and composers’ workshops, including with George Crumb. Her varied repertoire includes contemporary music performances as well as concerts of broad repertoire with works from the Baroque period to music of our own times, in which she discovers and reveals inner connections and contrasts between the various pieces of music.
 
  Ms. Zähl is also a member of the piano duo elaeis. She has recorded on the Mode, Wergo and Fidula labels. In addition, she has regularly contributed translations (both German and French) for Mode Records. She lives and works as a performer and piano teacher in Cologne.
